Doomed to Repeat is written and illustrated by Sven Skupien. He has worked in illustration and cartooning since 1984, including the early video game industry.

In 2006 he co-created Rum Runners, an apparel partnership with Amazon. Under the brand name "Sven & Angus" the company has an extensive cartoon and digitally illustrated catalog. Rum Runners now also holds apparel and other product licenses for the vintage characters Woodsy Owl, Bozo the Clown and Laurel & Hardy. All of this work consists of original artwork.

In 2021, Sven launched the comic strip Doomed to Repeat, which has a strong following on Facebook and a full-color collection of the strips, entitled AAARR! The Cat Did It: A Doomed to Repeat Collection. The book is available in four formats on Amazon, Kindle Unlimited and Barnes & Noble.

Sven is also a proud member of the National Cartoonists Society.
